Busay Cave
Nothing cools you down like Busay. Up in the hills behind Moalboal, Barangay Busay hides a spring fed rock pool so clear you can see straight to the bottom, and so cold it stays refreshing even at the height of summer. The spring supplies drinking water to the town below, so locals keep it spotless.
Wade through the waist deep pool and a tunnel runs about 200 meters into the hill, past stalactites and sleepy fruit bats, with a local guide lighting the way. A few small sari-sari stores outside sell snacks and cold drinks.

Cabana sunset
Cabana Beach Club Resort sits right on the water at Panagsama Beach. Its open air restaurant, Cucina Italiana, looks straight out over Tañon Strait with nothing between your table and the sea.
Order the pizza, our favorite in Moalboal, settle in with a cold drink, and watch the outrigger boats glide home while the sky turns orange. The sunset show runs 5 to 6 PM, so come a little early for a table by the water.

Panagsama Beach
Panagsama hides something world famous in plain sight: a school of millions of sardines living 20 to 30 meters off the beach, every day of the year. Wade in, swim out, and the school parts around you like a silver storm. Sea turtles graze the same shallows, close to the shore.
Snorkeling is easy for beginners, and if you can freedive, this is the place to try it. Licensed guides wait right on the beach, friendly and fluent in Cebuano and English, and they take underwater photos for you.

Moalboal nights
When the sun goes down, Panagsama turns into one long bar strip. Chili Bar is our pick: right on the water and pouring since 1994, one of the oldest bars in Moalboal, with sunset drinks and dancing once the night warms up.
From there, hop on foot. Isla Bar glows above Blue Mango with DJs and happy hour from 5 to 9 PM, and Black Summer, the newest party hub, runs its dance floor and karaoke rooms to about 3 AM.

El Mercado
El Mercado de Moalboal is the town's big night food market at the center of Panagsama. More than 30 stalls cook side by side: Filipino barbecue, Korean samgyup, tacos, curries, pizza, poke bowls, crepes, fresh shakes and a bar or two.
It is the easiest dinner for a group, since everyone orders from a different stall and meets back at one long table. Half the fun is the crowd: on a good night you will hear five languages around you.

Coffee and bread
Two bakeries sit within a stroll of the house. Ô Délices is the real French bakery of Moalboal: buttery croissants, pain au chocolat and lemon madeleines with proper coffee, rated 4.9 by nearly a thousand visitors.
Ye Ol' Country Bakeshop, our newest neighbor, is just 120 meters away with fresh bread, cookies and coffee. Carry it home: the bamboo bench under our talisay tree was made for slow breakfasts.

BBQ and baywalk
For the cheapest good evening in Moalboal, head into town. The Tulay, the seaside hangout at the heart of it, is lined with affordable stalls: barbecue, sizzling plates and cold drinks right by the water.
Next door, the Sea Wall Park runs movie nights on a big outdoor screen in the evenings, especially on weekends, with a play area that children love. Go Saturday or Sunday evening, when local families fill both places.

Basdaku Beach
Basdaku is Cebuano for "big sand", and the name does not lie: a long curve of soft white sand in Barangay Saavedra with calm, clear water over a sandy bottom. It is the proper swimming beach, the one local families pick for day outings.
Rent a day cottage under the trees or a beach mat to spread on the sand. Stalls grill food along the beach and sell snacks and fresh buko, so you can arrive with nothing and stay until the sky turns pink.

Everyday needs
Close to everything, quiet at night
Everyday needs are close: the market, the bus stop and Jollibee are 5 to 8 minutes away, and a sari-sari store, O! Save Mart, a gas station and a coffee spot are within walking distance. The house is about 28 meters from the main road, tucked away enough to stay quiet.
